Every summer, the quiet streets between Deal and Long Branch fill with cousins. Shore hosts worry about rain; they should worry about wind and glare. The sea breeze picks up most afternoons, so lightweight decor needs anchoring and tall centerpieces don't belong on a children's table. The sun is the other guest: by late afternoon the light turns gorgeous — golden hour on the shore is when the best party photos happen — but the hour before it can be squint-bright on a west-facing lawn, so plan shade for the seated activities.

Summer weekends book earliest of anything on our calendar — for July and August Sundays, four to six weeks ahead is realistic, and repeat hosts often reserve the season in one go.
