The Delivery & Setup Checklist for Kids' Table and Chair Rentals
Your address tells us where to drive. This checklist tells us how to get the kids' tables and chairs from the curb to the exact spot where the children will sit — in a house, a city apartment, a backyard or a party room.
We rent kid-height tables, children's chairs, high chairs and dessert carts across New Jersey and New York, and every rental includes delivery, setup before your guests arrive and pickup afterward. Most deliveries are simple. The ones that are not usually come down to one detail nobody mentioned: a gate with a padlock, a third-floor walk-up, a building that only allows deliveries through the service entrance. Ten minutes with this list before you book saves that surprise on the day.
If you already know your date, you can hold your date first and send the details below afterward. And if you are still deciding how many seats you need, start with our how many kids' chairs and tables guide.
The 7-point delivery checklist
Walk the route from the curb to the room
Start where a vehicle can legally stop and walk to the exact spot where the kids' table will stand. Note every gate, step, narrow turn, slope and patch of uneven ground. A few phone photos of the entrance and the path are the most useful thing you can send — just leave out door codes and anyone's face.
Measure the tight spots
Measure the narrowest door, gate or hallway on the route, with the doors open as far as they will stay open on the day. Send the numbers and let us judge the fit. Please don't plan on taking a door off its hinges or turning a table on its side — tell us what is there, and we will tell you what works.
Stairs, elevators and building rules
For an apartment or a venue, ask the building three questions: is there a service elevator, does it need a reservation, and are there delivery hours? If the building asks for a certificate of insurance or any paperwork, send us the exact request early so we can confirm what is possible — please don't promise a document on our behalf. Walk-ups are fine to ask about; tell us the floor and the number of flights.
Choose the spot before we arrive
Decide where the kids' table goes and clear that area the day before. A rough sketch or one photo with an arrow is plenty for a home party: where the children sit, where the grown-ups stand, where the walkway stays open. Keep the kids' table away from the kitchen traffic and the front door, and close to the cake.
Outdoor setups: level ground and a plan B
A backyard table wants a level, firm surface — a patio, a deck or flat lawn. Pick a shaded spot if you can, and decide now where the table moves if the forecast turns. Our rain plan guide walks through the indoor backup.
Name one person on site
Give us one adult who will be there for the delivery window and knows where everything goes. If the host is out collecting the cake, ask a grandparent or a neighbor to meet us. Share their number through your booking, not in a group chat or a public invitation.
Write pickup into the same plan
Access can change after the party: a venue may lock up, a building may close its service elevator, a backyard gate may get latched. Tell us when the room needs to be clear and who will be there to let us in, so pickup is as quiet as setup.
Home, apartment or venue: what to send
| Where the party is | What helps us most |
|---|---|
| House or backyard | Which entrance to use, any steps or gates, a photo of the spot, and whether the table goes on grass, a deck or a patio. |
| Apartment | The floor, elevator or walk-up, service-entrance rules, delivery hours, and the narrowest doorway. |
| Venue or party room | The venue contact, loading door, setup and clear-out times, and any paperwork the venue asks for. |
Small spaces are not a problem — they just need a plan. A narrow living room often works better with two smaller kids' tables than one long one, and a city apartment can seat a surprising number of children once the coffee table is moved to the bedroom.
We're not the party planners — we rent the kids' tables, chairs and dessert carts. We deliver them, set them up before your guests arrive and pick them up afterward. Balloons, linens, decor and food come from your family or your planner.
What to include in your quote request
- The date and the town — and whether it is a home, an apartment or a venue.
- How many children, and roughly how old. Toddlers and ten-year-olds need different chair and table heights; the toddler table and chairs page has the small sizes.
- Indoor or outdoor, with one photo of the spot if you have it.
- Anything from the checklist above — stairs, elevator, gate, delivery hours.
That is enough for a quote request. For how delivery areas and setup work across NJ and NY, see kids' party rentals near me, and for the whole process from first message to pickup, read how a rental works.
Booking for the Halloween party weekend?
October 24–25 is the big Halloween party weekend this year, and Halloween itself falls on a Saturday, so daytime parties on the 31st are realistic too. Those weekends fill first. Send the checklist details with your date, or browse Halloween party rentals for table and chair ideas that suit a fall party. Everything starts at our main kids' table and chair rentals page.
Frequently asked questions
Do you set up the kids' tables and chairs?
Yes. Every rental includes delivery, setup before your guests arrive and pickup afterward. We place the tables and chairs in the spot you chose; decorations and styling come from your family or your planner.
Can you deliver to an apartment or a walk-up?
Often, yes. Tell us the floor, whether there is an elevator or stairs, the building's delivery rules and the narrowest doorway, and we will confirm what is possible before you book.
Do I need to be home for the delivery?
One adult who knows the setup spot should be there for the delivery window and again for pickup. It does not have to be the host; a relative or neighbor is fine.
Can the kids' table go outside?
Yes, on a level, firm surface such as a patio, deck or flat lawn. Choose a shaded spot if you can and decide in advance where the table moves if it rains.
Do you decorate the party?
No. We're not the party planners. We rent kids' tables, chairs, high chairs and dessert carts, and we deliver, set up and pick them up.
