The Stress-Free Kids’ Party Timeline: 6 Weeks to Party Day

The prettiest parties we deliver to have one thing in common: nothing was decided the night before. Here is the simple week-by-week rhythm we see the most relaxed hosts (and the best party planners) follow.
6 weeks out: lock the big three
Date, guest list, and location. Everything else flows from these. If you're hosting at home, walk the space and decide where the kids' table will live — it's the heart of the party and deserves the best light in the room.
5 weeks out: choose the theme and book rentals
Pick your theme and color story now, while there's time to enjoy it. This is also the week to reserve furniture — chairs, tables, and the dessert cart — because weekend dates go first, especially in spring and December.
4 weeks out: send invitations
Digital or paper, four weeks gives families time to plan without so much lead time that they forget. Ask for RSVPs two weeks before the date.
3 weeks out: plan food, cake and favors
Order the cake, sketch the kids' menu (simple wins — think finger foods in pretty presentation), and decide on one favor done well rather than a bag of many.
2 weeks out: confirm the details
Chase stray RSVPs, confirm your rental delivery window, and finalize any entertainment. Make a single-page run of show: arrival, activity, food, cake, goodbye. Even loose timing keeps the day calm.
1 week out: prep everything that isn't fresh
Assemble favors, charge the camera, iron linens if you're using your own, and stage décor in labeled boxes by area. Future-you will be so grateful.
Party day: receive, style, celebrate
With rentals delivered and set up for you, your morning is toppers and treats — not furniture assembly. Give yourself thirty quiet minutes before guests arrive. You've earned the pretty part.
