Meet The Daisy Table: Our New Hand-Painted Kids' Party Table

Mini Chairs Atelier · Updated September 2026

Every so often a piece comes out of the workshop that we know before it is dry. The Daisy Table is that piece: a scalloped buttercream top on a white fluted pedestal, painted by hand in New Jersey, and ready to be matched to whatever your party is becoming.

Most of what we rent was chosen. The Daisy Table was made.

It came out of our New Jersey workshop this September, and it is the first piece in a while that we finished by hand from the wood up rather than sourcing and styling. The top is cut as a daisy — nine soft petals rather than a circle — and painted buttercream yellow, with a crisp white trim brushed on by hand around every curve of the edge. It stands on a white fluted pedestal, and that pedestal sits on a scalloped base painted the same buttercream as the top. It is kid-height, which is the whole point, and at a child's eye level it does not look like furniture. It looks like a flower somebody left in the room.

Why we made a table instead of buying one

We have spent two years setting children's tables across New Jersey and New York, and there is a gap in what is available to rent. Round tables photograph flat. Rectangular tables are practical and say nothing. The pieces with real shape to them are almost always adult-height, and a beautiful adult table with children kneeling on chairs to reach it is not a styled party, it is a compromise everybody can see in the pictures.

A shaped, kid-height table solves it in one move. The children can reach their plates. The cake sits at their level. And the table itself becomes a piece of the décor rather than the thing the décor is placed on — which means a party can be beautiful with a fraction of the balloons, signage and rented backdrop that would otherwise be doing that work. If you have read our guide to the picture-perfect kids' party table, this is that principle turned into plywood and paint.

Hand-painted, and that means what it says

Each Daisy Table is finished by our family, at home, with a brush. The white trim that follows the scalloped edge is the part that takes the longest: it has to be drawn freehand around every petal, then cleaned up curve by curve, and it is the detail that makes the table read as made rather than manufactured. The fluted pedestal is sanded and painted in sections so the grooves stay sharp.

We are showing you the process shots below rather than only the finished piece, because the brush marks are the reason to want it.

See it set up at a real event

This is setup day at a venue: our Daisy Tables and kid-sized chairs in the kids' corner, ready before the guests arrive.

Customization is the real offer

Buttercream and white is how the first one came out, and it is a beautiful default — it sits comfortably with pastels, with greenery, with white and gold, and with almost any spring palette. But the table is built to be repainted, and that is the part we want you to know about: customization is available on request — any color, any size, matched to the party theme.

That means a blush top with ivory trim for a first birthday, a soft sage for a garden party, a deeper butter for a bee or sunflower theme, or a scaled-down version for a toddler party where everything is a little lower. Tell us the palette and the number of children and we will tell you what is possible for your date. Because each one is painted by hand, custom colors need lead time — ask early rather than the week of.

Where the Daisy Table belongs

How to style it without burying it

The mistake with a shaped table is covering it. No cloth — a linen hides the entire reason you booked it. Keep the styling low and inside the petals: small plates, a short runner of greenery down the middle if you want one, and place settings that leave the painted edge visible all the way around. If you are using place cards, our mini crown place cards and napkin bows stay small enough not to compete. Chairs in white, natural rattan or a soft pastel finish the look; our rattan kids' chair collection is the pairing we keep coming back to.

One practical note: a scalloped edge has no square side, so children sit slightly staggered around it rather than in a neat row. That is charming, and it also means you want a little more clearance around the table than you would for a rectangle. Tell us your room or yard dimensions when you book and we will lay it out with you.

Booking

The Daisy Table is available now for dates across New Jersey and New York. Like everything we rent, it arrives delivered, set up and picked up — you never carry, wipe or stack a thing. Because there is currently a small number of them and each is painted by hand, weekend dates in the spring will go first, and custom colors need to be agreed before the painting starts.

Send your date, your location and roughly how many children you are seating through Get a Quote and we will come back the same day with availability and what a custom finish would involve. If you are still working out the shape of the day, our party-planning timeline is a good place to start.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Daisy Table?

It is a new kid-height party table made in our New Jersey workshop in September 2026. The top is cut in a daisy shape and painted buttercream yellow with a crisp white hand-painted trim, and it stands on a white fluted pedestal set on a buttercream scalloped base.

Can I have the Daisy Table in a different color?

Yes. Customization is available on request — any color, any size, matched to your party theme. Because each table is painted by hand, custom finishes need lead time, so ask when you first enquire rather than close to your date.

Is it really child height?

Yes — it is built for children to sit at comfortably with our kid-sized chairs, so plates, cake and crafts are all at their level rather than above their heads.

Do you deliver and set it up?

Always. Delivery, full setup and next-day pickup are included on every rental across New Jersey and New York, and we are open 365 days a year.

Should I put a tablecloth on it?

Please don't. The painted top and scalloped edge are the decoration — a cloth covers the whole reason to book it. Keep the styling low and inside the petals so the edge stays visible in photographs.
