DIY Photo-Memory Garland for a Birthday Party

A photo-memory garland turns favorite moments into personal party décor. For a first birthday, use one photo from each month. For an older child, mix family pictures, favorite activities and milestone moments.
What you’ll need
- 10–15 printed photos in one size
- Ribbon, velvet cord or soft twine
- Mini wooden clips
- Removable wall hooks approved for the surface
- Optional cardstock labels and small bows
1. Choose and print the photos
Select images with a similar brightness or apply the same simple border to every print. Matte photos reduce glare and are easier to see in event photography.
2. Measure the display area
Cut the ribbon with extra length for a soft curve. Keep the garland away from candles, heaters, food service and places where children could pull it down.
3. Arrange before clipping
Lay the photos on the floor in order. Space them evenly, then attach each one with a lightweight clip. For a milestone garland, add small month-number cards between photos.
4. Add one polished detail
Tie a narrow bow at each end or place a small cardstock title in the center. Stop there—the photographs should remain the focus.
5. Hang and check
Use surface-safe hooks and gently test the line. The lowest point should remain above children’s reach. Do not tape, pin or tie decorations onto rented chairs, tables or carts.
